Sweet veggie Daikon is no more left out in today’s kitchen. Daikon is basically a Winter child and I take delight cooking Daikon recipes as light dishes. Although Daikon is sweet in taste, its flavor can be substantially enhanced with a little touch of regular spices such as Five spices, Black Mustard seeds etc. Quick easy dishes save lot of time and they excite me quite a lot as I can invest much of my time surfing web, watching tv, walking in treadmill, online shopping etc.
Daikon Recipes are often delightful if cooked with little care. My mother introduced this white vegetable to me three to four years back when I just started taking interest on my sublime culinary ideas..:) . Cre should be practiced while cooking Daikon as too much frying can be a sheer waste of its authentic sweet taste. Remembering Daikon for its Health Benefits such as Cancer prevention, Antibacterial component holding, carrying Anti- Inflammatory substances , weight loss factor and diuretic aids etc. I often utilize Daikon where I have to balance strong essence of any other proximal veggies.
- 1 tsp Mustard Seeds
- 3 to 4 Sliced Green Chillies (Sliced top tobottom lengthwise)
- 1 and 1/2 middle sized Daikons cut into 1/4th circular pieces
- 2 - 3 tsp sugar
- Salt to taste
- 2 tbsp Soya Bean Oil
Add oil into Kadai on a medium flame.
Put Mustard seeds and green chillies. Toss them for a while still mustard seeds start crackling.
Pour the Daikon pieces. Saute for a while until oil gets coated onto the pieces.
Sprinkle sugar and salt and put the lid on.
Check after 2 minutes as by these time Daikon pieces will get boiled with the generted vapor or else you may put a very little amount of water before putting the lid on. Daikon pieces will release water eventually even if you do not add water from outside.
10 minutes' Daikon recipe is ready to serve - smoky and tasteful. Eat well with Rotis.
