I started using Soya Chunks as a replacement to regular Chicken recipes we cook at home. Slowly I grew up interest on Soya Chunks and like to experiment adding different ingredients with these 100% vegetarian food. This recipe contains two most widely available vegetables – 1. Cabbage and 2.Onion . Apart from these two, tomato, green chilli are the other two vegetables to go in the dish Soya Chunks with Cabbage and Onion. While cooking this type of recipe which is completely off spring of my weird imaginations, give me immense pleasure and I find these recipes more satisfying and closer to my heart and soul.
Winter always offers more than a spoonful of vegetables and they are just a delightful addition to any dish you serve with care. To name of few Broccoli, Red Bell Paper, Yellow Bell Paper, Capsicum, Green Peas, Asparagus etc. Here I chose to use Cabbage because it comes with a generous amount of nutritional benefits. I boiled Nutrela Soya Chunks just for 5 – 7 minutes to produce just one whistle and that brought the perfect tenderness required in the Soya Chunks. It is better to soak the soya chunks into cold water for nearly 10 minutes that they absorb water from outside and turn into fluffy soya chunks instead of dry squeezed ones. Cabbage should be shredded in medium pieces and the amount of cabbage should be 2 times greater than the soya used in the recipe. 1 tsp of ginger paste is more than enough but if you like you may put a pinch of garlic paste (optional). Dark Soya sauce goes into the recipe as a light condiment and it creates the perfect balance required to blend the smell of raw soya and Cabbage. Easy and healthy! - Soya chunks - 100 gms
- 2 tsp ginger paste
- 1 tsp garlic paste
- 1 medium tomato chopped
- 1 medium onion chopped
- 2 - 3 green chillies (cut into 3 peices each)
- 1/2 of medium cabbage shredded
- 1 tsp soya sauce
- salt to taste
- 1 tsp sugar
- 2 tsp Sundrop Heart oil
- 1 tsp kashmiri chili powder
Shallow fry onions into the pan till they turn light golden brown. Add tomato and mix with the onion as much as possible.
Throw the shredded cabbage into the pan. Toss onion and mixture and cabbage well. Do not overcook the cabbage.
Add ginger paste and garlic paste. Stir well. Throw green chillies into the pan.
Put boiled Soya Chunks into the recipe and stir everything together.
Sprinkle soya sauce, salt,sugar and kashmiri chilli powder.Put the lid on. Do not need to put much water as cabbage leaves generous amount of water.
After 5-10 minutes, open the lid and you could smell the awesomeness of cabbage in Soya Chunks with Cabbage and Onion recipe. Healthy and tasty dish is ready to be served in dinner 🙂
