Sweet and sour Cauliflower

Cauliflower is among one of those veggies which are unforgettable in terms of their unique presence and delightful tastes. This flower shaped white vegetable has its own aroma when treated like queen in the kitchen. I just remember my old childhood days when I kept dreaming of quick yet tasty fuming recipes. This is the outcome of one of such dreams which left lot of colors at end!


  • 1 big Cauliflower cut into small florets
  • 2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 3 tbsp poppy seeds ground with small water
  • 2 tsp red chili powder
  • 1 tsp black pepper powder
  • 1 big tomato
  • Coriander leaves for garnishing
  • salt to taste
  • 4 tbsp mustard oil
  • 1tbsp cumin seeds
  • 5 cloves of garlic coarsely chopped


Step 1

Take a Kadai on medium flame. Drop oil. Sprinkle cumin seeds along with tomato.

Step 2

Smash the tomato slowly .Time to add poppy seed paste.Stir everything nicely.

Step 3

Let's put garlic pieces,red chili powder, turmeric powder, black pepper and salt.Give it a generous toss.Let the oil come up on top of the spices.

Step 4

Baby florets go in the Kadai. Need to mix spices well with the florets. Just pour 1 and 1/2 cups of water.Put the lid on.

Step 5

Open the lid after 10 minutes.Lower down the flame and add the coriander leaves on top.Again put the lid back for just next 5 minutes.

Step 6

Serve dry florets with Poppy seed paste in a medium bowl. Here is your Sweet and sour Cauliflower!
